Midwest Buddhist Temple will host the 2019 Autumn Mind/Body Seminar on Saturday September 21, 2019. Registration will begin at 9:00 am and the program will finish at 1:30 pm. The suggested donation to participate is $10 for members of Midwest Buddhist Temple , students and seniors and $15 for general public. This session will feature a workshop on Work/Life Balance and will also consist of a yoga class and meditation session.

WORK/LIFE BALANCE  WORKSHOP

Everyone has a life outside of work, but many struggle to find a balance between hours spent working or at work , and one’s personal life.  Yet this balance is crucial for physical, emotional well-being. In this workshop we will discuss the nature of work/life balance, how it is different for each person, and how to create a unique and personalized work/life balance.

We will also learn a series of  simple mindful movements which can be a daily means of creating and restoring calm into the flow of one’s work, communication with others, obligations, responsibilities , duties, self care  and relaxing.

About session leaders:

Adrianna Costello Work/Life Balance Workshop Leader

Adrianna Costello is a Human Resource Generalist focused on transforming the cultures of workplace alienation into more humane cultures based on healthier work/life balance. This balance is too easily disrupted by demanding work loads, demanding family duties and technology intrusiveness.  Ms. Costello has researched the matter of work/life balance and will share some of her findings and insights in this autumn 2019 mind/body seminar.

Dr. Susan Gilkey Yoga and Meditation Session Leader

Susan Gilkey,MD  is a retired physician from Stroger Hospital of Cook County  whose hobby of teaching yoga and meditation is now her work in retirement.  She is a minister’s assistant at Midwest Buddhist Temple and leads the Sunday Zenshin meditation session.  She teaches yoga and meditation at Cook County Jail and a class in Evanston Illinois.
