A little known Holocaust episode has been brought to life in a moving play “Chiune Sugihara: Unsung Hero of the Holocaust”. Written by Philip Pinkus, this play chonicles the life of a Japanese diplomat, Chiune Sugihara, who served as Vice-Cousul for Japan in Lithuania during World War II and wrote travel visas that facilitated the escape of more that 6,000 Jewish refugees to Japanese territory. In 1985, Sugihara was named by Israel to the Righteous Among Nations for his actions.

Sora PhotoThe Midwest Buddhist Temple is thrilled by the fact that the actor portraying Sugihara is Dwight Sora, son of Albert and Judy. Dwight is an accomplished actor with quite a resume and he uses his talents to bring this historical figure to life.

“Chiune Sugihara: Unsung Hero of the Holocaust” will be performed at the Illinois Holocaust Museum on August 21.

August 21 – 2:00 pm at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center (click here for Reservations and Tickets)
