Believe it or not our website, mbtchicago.org, is nearly 6 years old! Most agree that the original design has held up very well and it continues to admirably serve MBT’s Sangha and many others outside of our Sangha who are interested in Jodo Shinshu Buddhism.
These days, however, website visitors are using bigger screens, faster computers and more mobile devices. With this “refresh” we are now taking advantage of some advancements in technology to give our web visitors a more engaging experience. And the new mbtchicago.org is better positioned to support video and audio applications as many become more accustomed to experiencing the Dharma “virtually.” Here is a summary of our refreshed website (hint click any of the images to view that page):
Redesigned Homepage: The homepage now opens with dramatic pictures of the temple set to the full width of the computer screen. There is a refreshed “Quick Links” bar just below the pictures for fast access to key functions. The Weekly Service and Up Coming Events column has been relocated and now includes other important links such as Ask Rev. Ron or feature pages like our 75th Anniversary recap.
Updated Online Dharma Talks: The Online Dharma Talks page has been updated to provide easier access to either version (podcast or FB Live Video) of our weekly services. Other Service Resources such as “chanting text” or “chanting videos” are also available on this page. The new Online Dharma Talks page is accessible via the top navigation menu or the Quick Links bar.
New Full Calendar: The calendar has been updated to provide both a monthly view and a list view at the same time. To access the new full calendar just click the “Explore – MBT Calendar” tile on the Quick Links bar (just below the main pictures) or look for the Calendar icon on the navigation menus.
Updated Ask Rev. Ron Page: Rev Ron’s blog page has been updated to make it easier to scroll through all of his answers and if you have a question for Rev. Ron you’ll be able to submit it right from his page. You can find the link to Ask Rev Ron on the left column just below Up Coming Events.
