We will continue MBT’s tradition of offering Obon Candles bearing the names of loved ones during our Obon events on July 13 and 14. The temple provides all Hatsubon (first Obon) deceased with a candle. Everyone is invited to purchase a candle for a $10 donation to remember someone who has passed, including pets. The candles will be placed outside on the terrace overlooking the Bon Odori on Saturday, then moved to the naijin for Sunday’s Obon/Hatsubon service. After the service, you are welcome to take the candle home. If you wish to purchase a candle, please contact the office at 312.943.7801 by July 10.
